Sunday, May 31st, 1964: 5 Hits for Rainiers Riddick
Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at Sick's Stadium when Steven Riddick of Seattle scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Los Angeles Angels.

He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Rainiers get by the Angels 12-4.

In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the first baseman of the Rainiers exclaimed, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 5-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one."

S. Riddick singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off L. Smith in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off J. Zambrano in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.

This season-to-date Riddick has 8 home runs and a .398 batting average.
Sunday, May 31st, 1964: Riddick Hits for the Cycle
"To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple and homerun in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. Steven Riddick grabbed a piece of baseball history today when he hit for the cycle. Riddick went 5 for 5 with 3 runs batted in and 4 runs scored against Los Angeles, leading the Seattle Rainiers to a 12-4 win at Sick's Stadium.

"I felt comfortable at the plate in a way I haven't felt all season," Riddick said after the game. "It was like they were throwing beach balls at me. The ball seemed that big to me. And it just floated in."

S. Riddick singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off L. Smith in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off J. Zambrano in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.

A look at his season totals shows Riddick with 8 home runs, .398 BA, .523 OBP, 30 RBIs and 56 runs scored.
