The Helena catcher was a bonafide batting machine as he racked up a .343 average, 146 hits, 27 doubles, 4 triples, 11 home runs, 65 RBIs, 88 runs, 54 walks and a .416 OBP.

All of the major award winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Tuesday, October 3rd, 1961: Casa Grande Pitcher Racks Up Outstanding Pitcher Award In 1961, the top pitcher in the Pacific A was Afalku Gurnah. The Casa Grande hurler will receive the Outstanding Pitcher Award.
In a standout year he went 25-10 in 51 starts with 241 strikeouts in 365.2 innings and an impressive 2.19 ERA.
The SBWA will present his trophy to Gurnah at the group's annual awards dinner this weekend. | |
