BSBL Triple A 12-01-1961 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Thursday, October 5th, 1961: 1961 Best Batter Selected Jarod Reed was hitting on all cylinders in 1961, making Tacoma a very happy organization. He put up some phenomenal marks this year and was awarded the Pacific AAA's Outstanding Hitter Award today.
The shortstop piled up 114 hits, 23 doubles, 6 triples, 14 home runs and 70 runs batted in as he pieced together his .249 batting average.
For being named the PCL AAA's top hitter, Reed will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend. |  | Thursday, October 5th, 1961: 1961 Premier Batter Selected Javier Silva certainly made his presence felt in the Pioneer AAA this year. The gifted first baseman for Baton Rouge ripped opposing pitchers for a .396 batting average and ran away with the voting for the Outstanding Hitter Award.
He collected 222 hits, 41 doubles, no triples, 4 home runs, 66 RBIs and scored 81 times.
Silva will get his trophy at the SBWA awards banquet this weekend. |  | Wednesday, October 4th, 1961: San Diego Stopper Takes Outstanding Pitcher Award Keith Kimbell was overpowering this season for the San Diego Breakers and earned the 1961 Outstanding Pitcher Award.
In a standout year he went 23-6 in 34 starts with 245 strikeouts in 281 innings and an impressive 2.50 ERA.
This weekend Kimbell will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner. | | | | |
